Hello, and thank you for visiting my website. I am Dr. Sham Persaud DPM, a ABFAS Board Certified Podiatric Surgeon in Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery, and I am proud to call the Greater Pittsburgh area my home. I’m here to serve you with my foot and ankle ailments expertise.
My journey into the medical field began with my own experience of sports-related injuries. This personal experience ignited a passion within me to help others facing similar circumstances. I am deeply committed to helping my patients return to the activities they love and need to do.
My practice is uniquely dedicated to specializing in foot and ankle surgery. I find great joy in educating patients about their conditions and working as a team to devise the best treatment plan for those I serve.
Growing up in Bradenton, Florida, I was exposed to Pittsburgh culture early on through the Pirates. I was fortunate enough to participate in both watching and working with the team and was lucky enough to play high school games at Pirate City in Lecom Park. After high school, I attended Saint Leo University, graduating with honors in 2010. I continued my passion for learning as I earned my medical degree and master’s in health care administration and management from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in 2015. I completed my surgical residency at West Penn Hospital and AHN health system in 2018.
Directly after residency training, I was accepted into one of the top foot and ankle fellowships specializing in trauma and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. I finished my fellowship in 2019 under Dr. Mark Hofbauer with The Orthopedic Group out of Mon Valley Hospital.
Throughout my residency and fellowship, I have been actively involved in education and research. I have published numerous journal articles, including my own novel surgical procedure. I continue to contribute to the field through the AHN Hospital residency, conducting research and delivering lectures both locally and nationally.
My interests include golfing, Pittsburgh sports, and spending time with my family.
